I evaluate free software that can be downloaded from the internet. It is not difficult to find freeware on the internet but finding really good freeware can be a daunting task. I only post reviews of what I consider to be the best of the best freeware on my web site. Everything I review has no time limits on how long you can use the software and has no forced advertisements. In other words, it is completely free to use. My web site is:
George's Freeware Review Page
Although I review freeware that I consider the “best of the best”, there are a few other web sites that have the same goal. These are some of the ones that I like:
Pricelessware Priceless lists programs favored by participants in the alt.comp.freeware newsgroup. Once a year they publish a freeware list.
Tech Support Alert Tech Support Alert is a freeware site maintained by Gizmo Richards. He has a list of “46 Best Freeware Utilities” and publishes a monthly newsletter.
Buzzy’s Stall Wall Eric Eaton maintains this site but doesn’t actually make any claims to review the “best of the best” freeware. However, judging from the content of his site, I believe it qualifies.
Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention my good friend Clif who publishes the newsletter Clif Notes. See past letters - Search the Reviews Archive - Subscribe to the newsletter
