BackRex Internet Explorer Backup can help you to move all your Internet Explorer settings from one computer to another, even if it has a different version of Windows and/or Internet Explorer installed (for example from Internet Explorer 5.0 to Internet Explorer 6.0 or vice versa).

Below is the list of data and settings saved and restored by BackRex Internet Explorer Backup:
It doesn't get much easier than this. DLL Archive will thoroughly search your system for DLL files that are no longer needed and allow you to tuck them away for safe keeping. Once you've figured out which archived DLL's you don't need, you can go in later and delete them.

Everyone has uninstalled programs at one point or another, just to be presented with that wonderful dialog asking whether or not we want to delete some 'shared' Windows resource... Do we? Does something else use that DLL file it's asking about? Help!!! That's where AnalogX DLL Archive comes in - it searches through all the files on your system and lets you know if any of them contain references to the DLL's in question!
AnalogX DLL Archive is super-simple to use, just click search and let it do it's thing - once done, you'll be presented with a list of all the DLL's that don't have references in the system! Then just select which ones you think aren't necessary anymore and archive them; it's that simple! Make a mistake? No problem, restoring DLL's from the archive is just as simple - nothing is deleted until YOU delete it.
SuperEdi is a programmer's editor at heart. It provides syntax highlighting and coloring for several programming languages. I wasn't looking for another programmer's editor. There are dozens of those and many are free and work quite well. I was hoping for a good flexible text editor that opens almost instantly and gives me a tabbed interface with lots of special text formatting options that I have grown used to.
I was surprised to find it did what I wanted and much more. I've often used full featured text editors such as Notepad++ and EditPadLite. SuperEdi may not have as many features, but I feel it's a great deal faster on opening. It definitely outclasses the default editor I use now, which is called MetaPad, and is almost as good as the programmer editor I use called PsPad.
Almost everyone has an opinion about the best text editor unless they think that Windows Notepad is the only text editor they can use. SuperEdi is a good choice for many folks, but you may find it's either too much or not enough. It's up to you and you have lots of choices.
Here is a page which shows you most of the choices you have.
SuperEdi is a text editor with syntax coloring and build-in FTP client. The build-in directory tree helps you locate files quickly without opening the Windows Explorer. Context sensitive information is available via keyword lookup in any Windows help file. The editor is extendable using executable programs, text clips and automation scripts. SuperEdi supports Unicode UTF-8, UTF-16 as well as many locale- specific encodings.
SuperEdi is absolutely free of charge for private as well as for commercial users. There are no advertisements, nags or any other limitations.
This Solitaire suit delivers what it advertises. Included are five free solitaire card games. Both the board and the card decks can be customized to suit your tastes. The games are very challenging and the included help is good.
I initially had a bit of trouble with the installer that sets up this program. It seemed to hang for a very long time just as it was finishing up. Later, I ran it again and it finished normally.
Note: Vegard wrote me to let me know I should make sure you understand that this program is not true freeware.
Thanks Clif; for continuing to "promoting" solitaire card games in your newsletter! And for linking to my site...
But I think people should know this about "Free Spider 2005" (qoute from my listings):
"Freeware". More true is 'Liteware' or perhaps even 'Crippleware' (no undo function and some functions in the menu are disabled). Advertising for SolSuite (shareware)

AviScreen is an application for capturing screen activity in the form of AVI video or bitmap images. Beside the usual options defining the capture area, AviScreen has a unique feature called “follow the cursor”. Using this mode you can produce a video or image of relatively small dimensions while covering all mouse activity over the whole screen area.

A simple, but at the same time powerful DVD Authoring tool. It can take several video files stored on your computer and turn them into a DVD that will play back on your DVD player, Media Center or Home Cinema Set.
It lets you combine a single file or multiple files into a playable DVD, adds subtitles, and adds secondary audio tracks. It also has a useful guide built into it which explains the process with screenshots.

I read Terry's Computer Tips every week. This week he wrote two articles about using OpenOffice software. You should read these if you have Open Office or would like to break more of your chains to Microsoft.
I'm not sure how serious this really is, but I keep hearing that many of our internet radio stations could go out of business. Here's a quote from savenetradio.org.
The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain unchanged, the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date. Internet radio needs your help! The Internet Radio Equality Act has recently been introduced in both the House (H.R. 2060) and Senate (S. 1353) to save the Internet radio industry.
I recently received the letter below from Pandora, urging me to contact my U.S. State senators. If you are aren't a U.S. citizen, you can't help the same way, but you can still join the fight at www.savenetradio.org.
Hi, it's Tim again,
I wanted to thank you again for your extraordinary support in the fight to save Internet radio and Pandora. Thanks to the overwhelming number of calls you made, letters you faxed, and emails you sent, the Internet Radio Equality Act is fast gaining momentum in the House of Representatives (74 sponsors and growing). It's nothing short of remarkable for this to happen in such a brief period of time - almost unprecedented.
Last Friday a Senate version of the bill was introduced by Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sam Brownback (R-KS): www.savenetradio.org/071510-wyden.pdf. This is a promising development, but we need your help again. I know we're asking a lot, but the stakes couldn't be higher and the fight is not over.
Please call the offices of your Senators and ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act, S. 1353.
Visit www.savenetradio.org to keep up on our fight to save Internet radio. There are some powerful testimonials there from musicians who have found their audience through Internet radio.

JimiPocius sent out an email to all of his friends with a link to this service. There was no explanation included with the link. It didn't need one.
The web site doesn't need to be explained, but I'll tell you a little about it anyway. The Security Advisor Glossary is one of the few places you can go to find the meaning of some of the words used in computer security discussions. This site was made for folks like you and I who are not security experts.
Here's a place I recommend when someone is looking for a free webhost to put up their personal website. You'll get lots of choices depending on what you are looking for. Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out what you need. Here is a page that will help you understand all of the web hosting terminology.
Once you know what to look for, your choices will be easy.
I recommend putting your personal web pages on PbWiki. It's free and you don't have to learn a bunch of HTML or most of the other stuff web masters need to know. This newsletter is hosted at PBwiki and I did that because I wanted to concentrate on writing, not coding HTML.
I just joined a new forum devoted to reducing spam world-wide. I may not have the time to visit very often, but maybe you do. It can't hurt you and it may hurt the spammers.

Spammer alert is a friendly community where we can alert each other of the latest spam threats by posting the spam we receive into the forum. By doing this we can create a database of spam that people can search to verify whether the email they have received is genuine.
Also, we can fight back the spammers by publishing contact details publicly and reporting them to the appropriate authorities. There are also subforums for discussing methods of preventing, filtering, blocking and reporting spam.

You need a free 2.8 GB Gmail account to access many of the cool features at Google. After more than two years in beta testing Gmail is open to the public. Just go to http://gmail.com and sign up for an account.
I think Gmail works best in the awesome Firefox browser. It's free, easy to use, and it's way more secure than Internet Explorer. My favorite thing to do is to customize Firefox so that it does much more than IE ever could. You can select new button controls for your toolbars, install extensions to add new features, or change the look of your browser with themes - the way Firefox looks and works is under your control.
